Leaning Tower Of Pisa : An Imagination Stirring Architecture

Leaning tower of Pisa, one of the maestro’s in term of architecture, deserves its name in wonders of the world. It confers its own sacred and subtle presence in the baptistery and cathedral of Italy.
Soon after its construction in the year of 1173, the tower began to lean in the south west direction rather than staying straight, turning into a curiosity and crowd pulling phenomenon. Later, it was found out that the poor quality of the substrate was one of the leading causes of such tilt. Though the flawed designing proved abysmal rejection of the manual labor of the hundreds of people involved in it, the tower turned out to be a prized possession. Meanwhile, the construction of the tower got halted due to regular wars. Later, it was resumed under the guidance of Giovanni di Simonne.
The tower reaches to 55.86 meters, enough to confound millions of tourists. Climb around 294 steps and you can reach the top of the tower. There is an inner spiral wall to aid the reaching out process.
After all, this phenomenal piece of art, taking 177 years for completion, is not a benediction of technology but of manual labor. Classical capitals and blind arches are some of the noteworthy features of this architecture.
After the construction of this art, there have been controversies regarding the actual architect behind it. Earlier the entire concept of designing was credited to Bonanno Pisano and Guglielmo. The other reputed name was Diotisavali, who was considered as the main architect. But unfortunately, even today, this great mass is witnessing a sinking of 1 mm per year.
This bell tower continues to amaze people by emerging as a landmark in the cathedral. No doubt, its inclination has added to its beauty making it outright different from everything built on the planet.
