Great Barrier Reef: Nature’s Wonder On The Planet

As the name suggests, the Great Barrier Reef is one of the greatest coral reefs in the whole world. Almost more than three thousand reefs are nestled under the water in the Great Barrier Reef. This brings with itself one of the world’s biggest living architecture of the world.
Due to these reasons, preservation of the Great Barrier Reef is always in full swing. UNESCO has regarded the Great Barrier Reef as one of the world heritage sites. It has also found a place in the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’. The Great Barrier Reef boasts itself with huge natural resources, which were earlier out in the open to some of the greatest challenges of environmental degradation.
One of the most important branches of the Great Barrier Reef is the Great Barrier Reef marine park, which is very actively lobbied for providing fortification of the natural wonders.
The Great Barrier Reef is also very famous place for Scuba divers. Each diving in these reefs is a wonderful experience and cannot be expressed in words. The underwater sector of Great Barrier Reef is home to large whales, protected turtles, seahorses, fish species and lot of different marine species. It supports other variety of life also and some of the world’s endangered species.
Basically the Great Barrier Reef is the discrete territory of the East Australian Cordillera. One of the biggest threats faced by the Great Barrier Reef is the rise in average temperature of the ocean. This has resulted in coral Bleaching effect and now it has become an annual affair. Another threat is the decline in the quality of the water surrounding the reefs. Rivers from eastern Australia are sourcing sufficient pollution from the farm products. Geologists and scientists are closely monitoring this situation.
In spite of these threats, it is amongst the wonderful places on this planet to visit in order to plan your holiday. Once visited, its memory will last forever.
